Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
The City of East Ridge does not discriminate on the basis of disability in admission to, access to, or operations of its programs, services or activities. The City of East Ridge does not discriminate on the basis of disability in its hiring or employment practices. This notice is provided as required by Title II of the American with Disabilities Act of 1990.
The City of East Ridge will generally, upon request, provide appropriate aids and services leading to effective communication for qualified persons with disabilities so they can participate equally in the City of East Ridge’s programs, services, and activities, including qualified sign language interpreters, documents in Braille, and other ways of making information and communications accessible to people who have speech, hearing or vision impairments.
The City of East Ridge will make all reasonable modifications to policies and programs to ensure that people with disabilities have an equal opportunity to enjoy all of its programs, services and activities. For example, individuals with service animals are welcome in the City of East Ridge offices, even where pets are generally prohibited. (Service Animals are dogs or miniature horses).
Anyone who requires an auxiliary and or service for effective communication, or a modification of policies or procedures to participate in a program, service, or activity of the City of East Ridge, should contact the ADA Coordinator as soon as possible but no later than 72 hours before the scheduled event. Please note that depending upon the nature and circumstances of the requested aid, service, or modification, additional advance notice may be required. The ADA does not require the City of East Ridge to take any action that would fundamentally alter the nature of its programs or services or impose an undue financial or administrative burden.
The City of East Ridge will not place a surcharge on a particular individual with a disability or any group of individuals with disabilities to cover the cost of providing auxiliary aids/services or reasonable modification of policy, such as retrieving items from locations that are open to the public but are not accessible to persons who use wheelchairs.
The City of East Ridge is dedicated to ensuring that all City programs, benefits, activities, and facilities are fully accessible to and useable by persons with disabilities. LEP (Limited English Proficiency) Procedures
It is the policy of the City of East Ridge to provide services and/or to encourage participation in all programs or services offered for the benefit and welfare of the citizens of East Ridge. It is the goal of the City of East Ridge to reduce any language barriers, to the extent possible, and to provide equal access for LEP individuals to city services, activities, and programs.
To this end, the City of East Ridge has taken steps for inclusion in all areas of city government, including but not limited to employment, programs, and services, for all individuals where the primary language is not English, and who have a limited ability to understand, speak, read and write English. To ensure equal access, the City of East Ridge has established procedures for Limited English Proficient individuals.
