Purchasing

The Purchasing Department is the central buying agency for all departments. The Purchasing Agent processes all bid information for equipment and supplies used by the City. It is the responsibility of the Purchasing Agent to get the best price, but sometimes more importantly, to get the best quality materials, equipment and services.

Department heads may make purchases not to exceed $1,000.00 in any given day without having to obtain written bids or quotes, or up to $1,500.00 in exigent circumstances. Purchases from $1,000.00 - $10,000.00 are required to have three quotes. Purchases over $10,000.00 are required to be bid (re: Ordinance 868 and Ordinance 897.)

The bid will be advertised in the local paper, on the City's website, and on Vendor Registry. Bids will be opened and publicly read no less than 10 days after being advertised.  The Purchasing Agent will consider the best price and quality and award the bid in the City's best interest.
